We loved Cáceres which we visited on the way south, but this one, with a similar sounding name is just as good. We came across country on some very windy but good roads, through another white town called Gaucin and then on to Casares. There were ten spaces for motorhomes, all full. We sat and waited for a while and then a car pulled out. We were in like a flash and it’s quiet and safe enough for us to stay overnight (for free! 👍😂)

We could hear music coming from the town across the valley – it being a public holiday, we thought there must be something happening. Walking there took a while though, especially as we chose the wrong path!

The town was buzzing in the two small squares. One was full of young girls in their flamenco dresses and the other had a stage set up for live music. We walked up to the castle before joining in with the drinking extravaganza – thought that was probably the best way to do it! Stunning views at the top with loads of Griffin Vultures circling round. We know now that they are the same birds we saw yesterday – must brush up on my ornithology!

Back down in the town, we got a drink and stood outside in the sunshine. The bar seemed to be in someone’s front room and my white wine was sherry, which was very nice but strong …especially the fourth one. Meanwhile, the entertainment was on a par with Eastwood and District Victory Club circa 1972 🤣 Everyone was dancing though, and they all knew the moves for the Quickstep and Paso Doble. I felt sure we could’ve learnt it as we went along but Mr Bramley was not willing. 🙄

We got talking to an English couple who have lived here for about twenty years. Very difficult to hear though when you’re stood directly in front of the speakers.

By 6pm ish the tables were full of plastic cups, empty bottles and full ashtrays. We decided to stagger home for our dinner …such lightweight party animals.

9pm now, the music has gone up a notch and they’ll all just be starting to think about a few tapas before they eat around 11pm! I think we’ll be snoring 💤
