Short drive this morning on the spaghetti-like motorways around Barcelona. Had to stop at Lidl again for water and a few things we couldn’t get the other day. Then fill up with LPG which thankfully, also has 20 centimes off per litre.
Got to the Acsi campsite around lunchtime – it’s by a beach but also near a bus stop for 40 minute ride into the city. Seems cheap at £16 per night but we are also right next to the airport. 😬
Big queue to check in – another thirty minutes! 🙄
Despite being hardly able to walk from yesterday’s adventures, we got the bus in and then walked to the Sagrada Familia.
Not sure what they’re messing around at but it’s still not finished! 😉We were trying to work out the difference from when we were last here, probably around 2007 – not sure, but it’s certainly still one of the most amazing buildings we’ve ever seen. The oldest bits are the best, the more you look at it, the more you see! I wonder what Gaudi would think of it now? I’ve just learnt that he was run over by a tram in 1926 and all of Barcelona turned out for his funeral procession.
It was already half past wine 🍷 by the time we’d finished looking at the famous monument, so we had to stop for food, drink and leg rejuvenation. Afterwards, we rambled down the Ramblas for a while and had a look round the incredible food market wishing we’d eaten there…although not the sea urchins! 🤢
Went to get the bus back to the campsite and stood at the wrong bus stop like a pair of clowns 🤡- thanks, Googlemaps! When our bus sailed past us, the penny dropped and we relocated to the correct place. Out in the dark, home after nine, what’s the world coming to?
PS The planes are coming in thick and fast now, I think one has just landed on the roof!
