Still at Camping Moby Dick in Calella de Palafrugell – booked in until Tuesday. Yesterday Guy did his first proper bike ride in the morning and we spent the afternoon trying to pretend it was warm on the beach!

Today, there was no sun at all so we decided to try and walk to Tamariu. I wouldn’t have thought this possible but Google maps said it was only 6km by road, but for some reason (probably the view) we took the coastal path.

We know the walk to Llafranc really well – it’s proper path and the views are amazing. At this point a sign said it was two hours on the Cami de Ronda to Tamariu.

After Llafranc, there’s a steep walk up to a lighthouse which we’ve also done before, then we were into unknown territory.

The path took us down a steep ravine to a beautiful little pebbled cove called Cala Pedrosa. Along the way, we passed some teenagers with rucksacks, roll mats etc obviously in the middle of some kind of D of E challenge – I already thought I must be at gold standard just getting down to the beach.

Then, after our picnic lunch sat on a log, the trouble started.

The path climbed vertically off the beach, starting with a hand rail to lull you into that false sense of security. Just as I start to realise it’s climbing, not walking, sections of the handrail seem to not be there. I am not happy! I don’t want to continue upwards, but neither do I want to attempt getting back down.

With many choice words and a lot of encouragement from Ex Notts Fire & “Rescue”, I somehow got up and over the headland. I was still hyperventilating by the time we reached Tamariu.

The place hasn’t changed at all since we last came here except that it’s so much nicer for being quiet. The sea is beautifully clear – I would have been tempted if the sun had a bit of warmth in it.

Needless to say, we came back via the road although it had no pavement so we detoured off on a country path. Back in about a quarter of the time it took us to get there! Wine is needed !🍷🍷🍷
