Ok, there was only one and it didn’t really attack, it just floated by, but more about that later.
There was a big thunderstorm in the night as advised by the Greek authorities, but nothing out of the ordinary thankfully – we were expecting all sorts of peril 😬😂
We decided to drive south to the little port of Glyfa and then get the ferry across to the top of the island of Évvia. All went well at the port; just managed to wolf some lunch down before we had to board. Nice smooth crossing in hot sunshine then it clouded over again as we landed.
Évvia is the second largest Greek island, so we’ve decided just to do a bit of it. Arriving in Ayiokambos, we made our way to the northwestern tip – hoping to get a boat to see some of the little islands.
Everywhere seemed deserted – not sure if it’s just the weather or the end of the season. We’re parked along a gravelly beach with quite a few others. Our Greek neighbour has been here two months in a trailer tent!

Decided to have a swim although the water was much cooler today. Swimming parallel to the shore we seemed to be against the current and getting nowhere fast – that is until a large brown weird jellyfish put in an appearance. Amazing how fast I can be out of the water when necessary!

We warned the Greek man’s grand daughter as she was very close to it, but she wasn’t bothered at all. Then Grandma came out and picked it up (needed two hands) to show us that it wasn’t poisonous. She even turned it over so we could see all it’s tentacles. Apparently, it’s the purple coloured ones we need to be wary of – with five foot tentacles you don’t even see what’s hit you when they sting! I think they’re all aliens and I’ve gone off swimming.
