Well, it’s been a much easier drive for Mr Bramley today …a flat, straight, dual carriageway running all the way along the coast of the Black Sea. In fact, it’s so close to the water most of the time, there is barely room for a car park between road and sea.
Ugly high rise apartment blocks line the other side of the road, especially around the towns. Some are derelict and some look like they’re still under construction, even though they look like they’re on a bit of a tilt! It’s very green between these buildings though, as tea plantations line every available bit of hillside. The area is also a big exporter of hazelnuts and we’ve seen them drying by the side of the road.

We stopped in Trabzon to get a bit of food shopping from a Migros in a big shopping mall. Guy made a beeline for the self checkouts forgetting that we didn’t know the names of any of the fruit and vegetables we had …so how could we look them up? Fortunately, a helpful assistant came to save the day !
We reached Ordu about 4pm and it seemed like a good place to stop, albeit very busy.

Walked along the long promenade into the town where Guy suddenly decided he needed another haircut. Straight in to an empty barbershop, a bit of miming and google translate, job done …or is it? Somehow he’d agreed to a face masque – brilliant, and I had the camera too. We’ve seen men sat outside barbers, cigarette in mouth, with full on face treatment on. It must be the done thing here! Haven’t seen a single ladies hairdressers either – weird!

Toyed with the idea of going on the cable car, but decided we’ve seen enough hills and mountains in the last few days. Easy walk back along the prom was more appealing.
