Yesterday was a complete wash out. We’d planned to get a taxi back into Fez, but abandoned the idea as the rain was so heavy. We think we covered most of it on Saturday anyway.
This morning, we left a very soggy campsite and set off south for Ifrane. Steam was rising off the fields and we could see bits of snow around, then we got sleet.

The town of Ifrane was a complete oddity in the middle of Morocco. It looks like a modern alpine village – full of parks and hotels and very just so. Government ministers and wealthier citizens come here in the summer. It does, however, have a landmark stone lion outside the Hôtel Chamonix….we did a drive by!

Carried on to Azrou and then we veered off for the Route des Cèdres. Got to a carpark in the cedar forest and we were immediately surrounded by Barbary Macaques and men trying to sell us nuts to feed them. Guy got out to take some photos and suddenly, they were all over the roof! Looking in at me through the skylights 👀Thank God they were closed or they would have been in and putting the kettle on! Moved slightly away from the trees as I think they were jumping straight off the branches onto the roof.

Had lunch and then went for a walk in the rain and sleet to see the 130ft high Cèdre Gouraud – impressive but dead. Carried on for about a mile just for exercise but it was just too damn cold.

We moved to another location to park for the night, where there were more apes but not in the carpark. Funnily enough, we’re parked next to a place called Atlas Adventure which is a ‘Go Ape’ style park.

More sleety stuff and ice crystals on the skylights. Got to say, this is not the kind of weather we expected in Morocco 🤣
