Somewhere between 1 and 2am this morning, several cars did several circuits of the town honking their horns, wheel spinning and exhaust popping. I think this is usually a wedding celebration, but not sure why it had to be done in the middle of the night. I certainly didn’t feel like celebrating…as for Guy, mostly unconscious!
Dragged ourselves up the coastal road to the north this morning and pulled in near the next load of salt pans and lagoons at Sidi Moussa. We left the van on the main road and walked down the track as it looked a bit unsuitable for driving.

It was quite a beautiful area, with organised fields of produce growing on the hill opposite, but then the sea was behind that, with occasional massive waves that could just be seen over the horizon. A few farm workers around and several people on poor donkeys that were staggering about under the weight of their owners and heavy bags on either side.

Saw lots of different birds including many flamingos, Dunlins, Western yellow Wagtails and Black-bellied Plovers. It was quite odd to see the salt crystals even forming on bits of rubbish in the pans.
Later in the day, we arrived at El Jadida. Described as stylish and beautiful in the Rough Guide …we feel that this is quite a big stretch of the imagination. 😬

Whilst the UNESCO site of the old Portuguese medina is ok, the rest of it is like a very busy Skegness. So many families here on the beach and walking up and down the promenade. Camel, horse or donkey rides available and many beach side cafes for coffee or mint tea.
We’re supposedly parked at the Ibis Hotel for about £3 but in reality, we’re on the street with a parking guardian. A grandstand view of the prom is providing our evening entertainment.
