The quietest night ever last night – you could’ve heard a pin drop, but no wolves.
Changed our minds about five times as to whether to walk along the riverbed to the hermitage but every time we got our coats on, it started to pour down.
Gave up and started driving some convoluted route north with the idea of seeing the Cañón del Leza. This was well off the beaten track and involved about 30km of one of the worst roads in Spain. Not potholed really, just patchworked …like one of the UK’s best 🤣

It really felt like we drove into autumn today as well. Such spectacular colours despite the miserable skies.

Had lunch in a lay-by in the middle of nowhere, but of course, we’re in Spain, so about twenty families walk past on a Saturday jaunt. To be honest, I think we were on some kind of dinosaur trail as we kept seeing signs for it.
When we finally reached the viewpoint for the Cañón del Leza, it was getting on for 3pm, but boy was it worth the drive. Such beautiful scenery and more vultures and kites again. One of these days, one of them will be an eagle 🦅 and it will make Guy’s year.

Got to Logrõno late afternoon and had a smol power nap in preparation for the ‘walk of the elephants’.
We’ve been to Logroño a couple of times before when it’s been either freezing cold or mid week. Saturday today, and just a bit of drizzle so almost perfect for an attempt at the street of tapas – Calle del Laurel. Over 50 bars and restaurants in a tiny road the size of Clumber Street in Nottingham, absolutely heaving with people. Each bar with its own speciality tapas dish and very cheap Rioja and Vermut. An amazing experience, but one person in our ‘group’ had to do it at warp speed due to hunger…consequently, the other one burnt out early. 🤣🍷🍷🍷🕺

Cañón del Leza then back to Logroño
