Quite a long drive north and east this morning, finally arriving at the Desfiladero de la Yecla around 2pm. We’ve been meaning to come here for the last couple of years but it never seemed to be on the route in the past.

The narrowest gorge we’ve ever been in, but also only a very short distance – about fifteen minutes walk. Really well maintained place though, with a concrete walkway between an impossibly narrow gap in the rocks. Many raptors waiting high above, but not many flying today. Needed the binoculars or zoom lens to see them …I think they were having an inset day.

We were glad to get back to the van as it was sooo cold 🥶..a bit of a shock to the system that we’ll need to get used to.
On to the Rio Lobos or, to give it its full name ‘Parque Natural del Cañón del Río Lobos’. Last time we came here there was deep snow everywhere and the river was flooded. During the night, Guy was certain he heard a wolf so we’ve come back to make sure …it being Wolf River and all that.

The spectacular viewpoint above was disappointing today, as the vultures here were also having a rest day – funny to see them lined up on the rocks opposite though.

We drove down into the canyon and found parking further up the river. Although 5pm and we really couldn’t be bothered, we made ourselves go out and walk for some fresh air. It really is a beautiful place with all its dramatic rock formations and a bit of autumn colour. Started to rain as we were walking back so there won’t be any star photos either!
