It was a fairly quiet night on the beach apart from a car full of lads driving around and shouting at 4am. Guy snored his way through it all and I think I’d just got to sleep when he said it was 9am. 😴 We set off for Marsala to check out the wine! Called at Lidl and then after much faffing around we managed to find a small olive oil producers near Castelvetrano. The big gates were shut – we assumed it was lunchtime but a nice old chap came out and opened them. He took us in and gave us samples to try, carefully explaining each one. We came out with about six months supply after watching each litre being carefully canned and labelled. Then the box came out to put them in but no, wrong size. Tried another two and then he carefully put the fourth box together with tape and handed it to us. He then produced an extra bottle of lemon flavoured oil which he gave to us as a gift. Guy told him to keep the 2 euros change and he looked deeply affronted and fetched yet another bottle as another gift!! On to Marsala which we thought might be quite nice but it wasn’t. Heaps of rubbish everywhere again…don’t even feel like parking because there’s all sorts of stuff blowing around the streets. Rufus would have a field day with his taste for all things inedible. We did pull into the Pellegrino lodge and sampled many expensive sweet wines. However, once a coach unloaded it turned into a rugby scrum to get served and we weren’t very good at the game!🙄 Followed the coast road until it got a bit cleaner and we are now parked at Saline dello Stagnone di Marsala. Quite picturesque salt lagoons so to end the shopping day we’ve bought some salt.🤣Not sure what we’re eating next week other than olive oil and salt washed drown with a glass of Marsala – think we’ve got it covered!
