Up the road to Trapani this morning. Easy parking for a change and a short walk in to the old town. It was a bit like Cadiz, surrounded by sea, although a bit less green. It did have a bit of an African feel about it as the guide book said. Felt we’d seen most of it within an hour and a half so decided to head up to Erice, which is on a hill high above Trapani with amazing views when the cloud clears. There were nine really sharp bends and I was glad of the cloud because the drop at the side of the road would’ve been super scary on a clear day. Erice was quite a dark grey town – very touristy but it had some nice gardens and a castle on one side. Rufus enjoyed the walk because it was really cool. Came back down to the coast with the intention of going to a campsite for a couple of days to get some washing done but it started to rain. Thought we’d park at a really scenic beach instead as it’s pointless doing any washing. It seems like the whole of this coastline, which should be super busy is completely deserted. There are loads of empty properties and many of them half finished or derelict …it’s all very strange. It’s the same with some of the roads. They’ve half built new ones, even motorways and then abandoned them. Should be a quiet night in the rain anyway!
