We left Magnan mid morning and set off north towards Bordeaux. There’s a motorway now that gets you there in about two hours – it’s usually quiet and a nice new road, but it’s one of the most expensive stretches toll-wise. As we have the time, we decided to do the little roads instead. This region is full of trees but not much else, other than the odd village with a crazy chicane to wake the driver up.

Thought we’d never get to the Bordeaux ring road, but once we did, we had a mad moment and decided to head east for a change – just to give us a different route really.
Had lunch in the town of Libourne on the Dordogne river. There were flood warnings all along the riverside and it looked like it had been really high in the last few days. Went for a walk around; nice place, but it’s been a bit of a grey day so don’t think we saw it at its best.
Carried on in the afternoon to Perigueux, again, on the small roads. Driver has had enough now – we’ll check it out in the morning. Get the kettle on!
