St Ives

Well, we’ve been let out! It’s not quite the same, but doing our best to get a bit of adventure in while we can. Left Nottingham yesterday afternoon expecting total gridlock – it being a bank holiday weekend. Couple of hold ups around Birmingham and Bristol but both seemed to be due to roadworks rather than holiday traffic.

Stayed in Taunton last night on a touring park. All very streamlined; number plate recognition at barrier, pitch number written on chalk board outside reception. No interaction whatsoever apart from a cheery wave from the owner as we left this morning.

A bright, sunny day, we decided to head for Tintagel, last visited 30 odd years ago. It was free then and a little bit wild in places. Today it was jam packed with people, mainly families enjoying the cold sunshine, lots of them picnicking. Was nice to see really, felt like a bit of normality. There’s a brilliant footbridge been installed and a striking King Arthur sculpture. Guy had to wait ages to get a ‘people free’ shot.

On to St Ives then – 5 pm. We were tempted to stay in the van and drink wine, eat crisps, but decided to brave the cold breeze and walk down into the town. Took about twenty minutes, downhill all the way. Absolutely packed on the sea front, mainly because all drinking and eating has to be done outside. It is lovely though, and the sea is proper blue with the sun on it. Think we’ll have to try a pasty tomorrow 🥟

    1. Yes, just a few days Catherine. Testing the waters really – not literally 😂 How are you both and how are you doing health wise now? Time has flown even though we’ve been doing nothing much. Hope to see you both soon xx
