Of all the places for it to happen, we wouldn’t have expected it in an Ikea car park full of people coming and going. Got back from a ten mile hike around the city to find that the side window had been forced open and the blind cut. The toe rags that did it must’ve been disturbed as it looked like they didn’t actually manage to get inside – fortunately! Nothing missing, but it’s a right pain as we’ll need to get it fixed. Guy has effected some running repairs (the gaffer tape – Steve & Catherine!!😂), so the window is fairly secure again now, despite two of the clips being broken. The insurance company weren’t much use and the Police, although prompt and friendly, couldn’t do much either. Just luck of the draw in a big city I suppose. Now parked close to a Chausson dealers, ready to see them first thing in the morning.

Berlin has been fab – not a pretty place, but so much to see, and what blows my mind is that all the awful horrid stuff is such recent history. Wasn’t much to see at Checkpoint Charlie, but The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe was huge, and like a maze. Followed it up with the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. Long walk then to see the remains of the wall, then the Soviet War Memorial and a wander through the Tiergarten. There was a thought provoking Memorial to May 10th 1933 when the Nazis did their book burning stuff. It was just a glass paving slab through which you could look down upon rows of empty bookshelves – clever stuff. Exhausted now ..my legs feel like Guy’s must after one of his epic bike rides. 😂

  1. Oh no. Gutted for you about the break in, but glad you got to enjoy Berlin. The book burning memorial is so simple and so perfect.
