How did I get here? Well, the husband’s driven through the five lane super highways on a mission to get us out of Deutschland and into the Netherlands. We passed the IJsselmeer, formerly the Zuiderzee, now, who remembers that from geography???😂
Last night was a bit eventful, in that we parked under what we thought was a conker tree …not good for the nerves, I thought we were being bombed! Had to de- ramp and move at half past midnight. This morning, we discovered they were only acorns, but I suspect the roof looks like a colander from above!
We arrived in Amsterdam, in the rain, at about 3:30pm. We’ve parked in a secure compound just a short (free) ferry ride from Central Station.
The ferry gives you about three minutes to get on/off – it was packed with people and bikes at rush hour.
Sorry to let y’all down with the ‘space cake’ but I can’t feel my legs after half a bottle of Rioja. I think I inhaled enough weed walking down the first street to see me through my birthday. Had a fab meal at Duende Tapas restaurant – there was even a cat wandering round to make it feel more authentic. Back at’ van now drinking Lidl’s finest Amaretto substitute. 👍👍👍🍷🍷🍷🤢🤢🤢😬😬😬😂😂😂
I’ve just got to finish with a bit of Lloyd Cole ….’”It took a lost weekend in a hotel in Amsterdam, double pneumonia in a single room’“🕺
PS Forgot to mention the lift-up motorway allowing two boats to go through the canal!
