I cannot believe that this afternoon’s walk was my idea – I must be a few tiles short of a roof!
After a morning of running around with damp washing, trying to avoid the rain, we decided to just bung it all in the tumble dryer and take pot luck! The socks have come out like three year olds, but hopefully everything else is ok. Did a bit of cleaning, then once Guy had had his power nap I suggested we walk up to the tower that we can just about see on the headland looking out of the van window.
The sleepy one needed a bit of encouragement, but although it looked miles away, Googlemaps reckoned it was 3.7km. So, off we went!
Marching along the seafront through the town of Moraira was fine, but we could see the steepest of steep streets opposite which was the beginning of the climb. In my head I thought it would be road or at least a ‘proper’ path but in no time at all it was just rocks really. Given the fact that parts of it were exposed to the sea – a long way down, every time Guy turned his back I lowered my centre of gravity by nearly crawling and clutched onto every plant available to make myself feel safer. It’s all right going up these things but all I can think about is how am I going to get back down? 😬
It was quite nice at the top, except for the fact that the tower was all fenced off for renovation. 😂Good views, but the rain was threatening so we did a quick turnaround.
Coming down, for once, was actually easier than going up. Feel like we’ve done a marathon – only 6 miles but I’m sure that’s more than that lying, conniving, Googlemaps said!
