Instead of going directly east towards Memmingen, we decided to come south today, towards the Bodensee (Lake Constance). The last time we came this way it was the end of October and really cold, dark too when we visited the little town of Lindau. Thought it would be nice to see it in the sunshine.

Parking options were looking bleak as we fast approached the lake. Busy, busy, busy! Signs for motorhome parking pushed us out a few kilometres away from the action, so we had lunch and put our walking legs into first gear.

Luckily there was a path around the lake for most of the way and with the backdrop of the Alps on the other side it made for a nice stroll.

Lindau’s old town is on an island attached by a bridge. There are some beautiful old buildings, all painted up in different colours and at the centre stands the 14th century, gothic ‘Rathaus’. It’s painted facades are pretty spectacular from both sides.

We stood and watched the boats going in and out of the harbour but had to find shade and a drink as it was so hot.

Following the coastline round, we found a whole other beach area on the far side – this is definitely Germany’s riviera.

Walking back, our legs were not happy – nine and a half miles 😮Here we go again!

Looking for Lindau 9/8/22
