A lovely quiet night at Paralia Erasmiou – just the sound of the sea. It was still overcast this morning, but knowing it was probably our last day in Greece, I went for a swim much to Guy’s amazement 😂😬Cold to get in, but very refreshing. I think we would have spent the day there if the sun had been out, but it wasn’t looking likely, so we moved on to the Nestos National Park.

A delta wetland area known for wildlife – the only disappointment being that we hardly saw any. There was a very picturesque monastery though, situated on an artificial island reached by a long causeway.

We parked for lunch at what seemed like the end of the world but even there, a couple of beach bars were setting up for the season and testing out their music systems. Nothing for it but a last visit to Greek Lidl to stock up on Feta cheese and cheap wine then head for the Bulgarian border. 😢

Sad to leave Greece, it’s only just warming up! But we have to leave plenty of time to get back.

The border check was quite efficient for once and we got the all important stamp out of the Schengen zone in our passports. Drove through some nice mountainous scenery for a while but when it was time to stop, there was just nowhere suitable. Ended up in a lay-by. Hopefully, the traffic will die down overnight.

Guy has concocted a chicken stir fry out of some turkey. I think we’ll have to start looking at the pictures on the packaging!
