A bit cool and cloudy this morning. Back to jeans and jackets for a walk into the beautiful medieval town of Sighisoara – birthplace of Vlad the Impaler.

Lots to see – it has an impressive skyline of towers, spires and battlements. Walking up the cobbled street and in through an archway, we were met by a man in traditional dress who banged his drum as every person passed by. ‘English?’ he said. Is it that obvious? Then ‘Welcome!’ ‘That’s really kind’ said Guy. “Is Job” replied the man. 😂He actually did his job in 16 different languages so not exactly unskilled!

We walked up the covered stairway to the church on the hill, admired the stunning clock tower and colourful houses, then made our way back to the van as the sun came out.

Lots of driving for Guy today as we have many miles to cover before we have to be in Calais next Saturday night. It was, at least interesting, as the motorway earmarked on our 2018 map was only half built.

We passed through so many villages comprising of just one street with houses each side. A shop is rare, but there were loads of stalls set up on the side of the road selling absolute junk. Think blow up flamingoes!

One tiny hamlet had a row of houses with the most ornate roofs you’ve ever seen, but the houses underneath were barely standing up!

We arrived in Oradea, up by the Hungarian border at around 5pm. It was 25 degrees and beautiful sunshine, so we set off for a walk around. Now this place really is like Vienna. It has to be the cleanest city we’ve been in. There’s a big wide open square, pastel coloured baroque buildings from the Austro-Hungarian empire and the town is split by the Crisul Repede river along which, are cycle paths and pedestrian walkways. It’s lovely.

In the main square, there’s a music festival taking place and we parked in a quiet and empty little car park not far away. It’s now rammed and we couldn’t get out if we tried!😂
