The weather has changed overnight. Cold and blustery this morning when we set off for Portimão to do a Lidl shop.
On then to Alvor, where we’ve stayed on a campsite a couple of times in the past. There’s free parking at the beach, but with rain forecast we thought it might get a bit muddy.
The campsite is set back from the little town with its vast beach and estuary but every time we’ve been here it’s always busy. Looks like some people actually live here, as they have multiple add-ons to their caravans, plus garden gnomes and fairy lights.
Arriving at reception we asked if they had any space. “I don’t know” says the girl, “take a look around. If you find a place you can stay”. The campsite is huge, so Guy asked which areas might be free. “I don’t know – I’m in here all day”. 😂
Fortunately, we found a little space under the Mimosa trees. Then it rained, so we were stuck in for most of the afternoon.

Ventured out about 4pm down through the little town and out onto the network of boardwalks that run across the beach and lagoons. Back to coats, jeans, boots and hoods up against the wind. At one point, the sky was so black with a funny tornado shaped cloud in it, I thought we were going to be sucked up and spat out somewhere down the coast.

All has quietened down now though, apart from a few overhead branches gently brushing the roof! 😬
