With sulky faces, we dragged ourselves away from the campsite this morning…it helped a bit that the weather was overcast, otherwise we might have eeked out another day!
When I went to pay, there was a little dispute over whether it was four or five loads of washing we’d done 🤣…I know there was a lot, but we’d definitely squashed it into four lots. Think they’ll remember us for our laundry mountain!
Headed back up towards Larissa and stopped at a Lidl on the ring road. Surprised we didn’t get a parking charge, we were there so long 🤣 Rang Jordan, did shopping, then had lunch. It was getting on for 2pm by the time we left.
An hour later we were approaching the Metéora – it was on our route and great to have another chance to see the monasteries on top of their rock pinnacles. We are surprised that this area isn’t filled with hot air balloons at sunrise like Cappadocia – it’s just as spectacular in a different way.
Walked up to a couple of the monasteries but one was closed Fridays and the other closed at 3pm! Oh well, they are better from a distance anyway!

We walked around the mountain road to catch the sunset. Last time we were here, it was amazing. This time, a complete non event! There was a lot of mist and cloud though and I think it makes the photos look a bit Lord of the Rings.

The American lad with the drone (hate drones) was starting to drive us a bit mad, so we gave up and walked back to the van.
Had to drive back down into the valley then as no overnight parking near the monasteries. I think there’s ‘some talent’ on at a nearby bar or campsite – I don’t think Opportunity will be Knocking anytime soon! 🤣
Happy Birthday to Jordan today. 28 years! Where did they go?
