Left Guy in charge of the route today and guess what? Four hours of mountain roads with one million bends, mostly of the hairpin variety! 🙄🤣
I thought we were doing a simple drive across to the west coast. It was, of course, very scenic and a bit kind of Alpine in places, but we were quite high up at times. Stopped at a brilliant arched bridge at Pyli.

Can’t believe how high they used to make them and so steep to walk up and over – not much water around underneath it though.

Also drove across a huge dam with no water to be seen on any side!
We eventually arrived in the town of Arta mid afternoon. Got good parking so decided to stay. Did a long walk up the main road to another arched bridge – a bigger version of this morning’s affair. No water at all under this one either.

Walked back through the city centre which seemed like a nice place. Lots of Byzantine churches, bars, cafes, clean streets and a castle, which true to form, was just closing as we arrived! 🤣

It’s a Long Way to Arta 12/10/24
