Well, we’ve not managed a free night yet! France seems to be gradually restricting where motorhomes can park and yet it’s always been one of the easiest countries for free overnight stays.
Avoiding motorway tolls again we took some very small roads with lots of roundabouts all the way to Le Mans. Think Guy was ready for a blast round the track when we got there, but instead, we had a little walk up to the old town. It was dusk when we last walked around the cobbled streets here, so it seemed a lot more atmospheric than today’s brilliant 19°C sunshine – that is definitely not a complaint though!

Didn’t stay long as we decided to try and get down to Saumur for the evening. There wasn’t much difference time-wise between tolls and no tolls, so we stuck with the little roads. When we got to the car park, it had a new two metre height barrier so bang went that idea.
Luckily we have a pass card for the ‘Camping car park’ down the road, so paid €14 to do the same thing albeit with electricity which we don’t need. At least there’s an Airedale puppy walking around (with owner) – Guy is working out how we can kidnap him!
