Well, it was quite funny this morning. At least fifty percent of these older people in motorhomes managed to get up and scarper before the money man came round at 8am! 🤣🤣🤣It was the mass exodus that woke me up.
There are a few towns and cities that we’d like to see in this area, but there’s no easy route to pull them all in without going back on ourselves.
Nîmes was the obvious one today, but so many reports of break-ins and theft on park4night, it put us off.
Carried on up to Uzès, which is a beautiful old town perched on a hill.
I think we got the last place in the parking area as there was a Saturday market on. The whole place was buzzing with people eating, drinking and shopping. We walked through the medieval Place aux Herbes, then picked our way through the stalls up the arcaded Rue de La Républic.

Last of the big spenders – we bought one giant tomato and a baguette. The tomato was so heavy, it cost €3!! Worth every cent. We came back and ate half of it for lunch sliced up with oil and garlic and it tasted just like the tomatoes we used to get in France in the ‘90’s!
Walked back in during the afternoon and things had quietened down significantly. The street sweepers were out and everything was tidied up. We had a look in a church and then the cathedral. There’s also a castle and a few random towers dotted around. One looks like the leaning tower of Pisa!
Had a cooling lemonade and watched the world go by for a while, then picked up the van and drove just south to the little village of Blauzac, where there’s a big car park that’s hopefully quiet overnight.
