That was a wild and windy night. We had to close every roof hatch in the end as the wind was threatening to rip them off. The trouble is that it’s too hot with them closed and you feel like you are suffocating!
We were parked in such a lovely spot facing the sea though, so we thought we’d stay here today and see if the wind died down.
Walking boots on for a march up the road and around the headland to see the lighthouse or Faro. It wasn’t very far, but the scenery became quite rugged again with some really jagged rocks sticking out of the water. Once we got up to the lighthouse itself, there were scores of people around…all come out for a drive or a walk as it’s Spain’s National Day today and most places are closed tomorrow.
We continued walking a bit further around the coast road but knowing we’d got a long steep uphill on the way back, we soon turned around.

After lunch, we braved the wind again and sat on the beach for a while as it’s still very warm. The sea seems cooler here but it’s so buoyant, you barely have to swim as it just holds you up.
As it was still blowing a gale, we decided to try the other car park a few miles away. It’s much busier and not as nice, but we’ve managed to position ourselves between two other motorhomes and all is now quiet on the Western Front!
