Moved on this morning. We needed diesel first and then a quick Lidl stop for butter and couscous – not sure why we came out with about fifty items!
Sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Jordan who is apparently 29 today …it cannot be possible!
Headed into the Cabo de Gata National Park which we didn’t rate much on our last visit so thought we’d give it another try.
La Islet de Moro was lovely, if a little bit wild and windy. We walked up onto the Islet and felt like we needed lead boots on! The sand is almost black here but the whole region is volcanic, so to be expected really.

Although the sea was really warm, it felt too cool to sit around so we drove on, further into the National Park towards the salt flats. In this protected area there are various birds, flora and fauna but we’ve never really seen much other than a few flamingos on the other side of the lake. Much of it is also surrounded by the plastic greenhouses that blight the coastline in this region.

Parked in one of the two areas where motorhomes are allowed – this one, called La Fabriquilla has a beautiful beach and clear sea. Still quite windy, but much warmer, so we had a swim and a nano sleep. I don’t know why I was so surprised to see Ken Dodd looking back at me in the mirror when we got home!
