Was a lovely quiet night out in the wilds last night, until 7am when someone thought it was necessary to bring a strimmer out into the country to trim the long grass just behind us! It did us a favour in the end though because as we entered the Sassi in Matera it was fairly quiet, but by the time we came out at 11:30 ish it was absolutely heaving with humanity! We found under cover parking nearby and left Rufus in the cool whilst we ran up and down all the steps looking at the cave houses. Have to say, it was more of an experience looking at the view from the other side of the ravine last night. It’s been likened to Dante’s Inferno and you can certainly see why. Came back down to the coast and then on the motorway to just below Sibari where we’ve found a lovely campsite right next to the sea. We’re hopefully going to stay a couple of days. As usual we sorted out our pitch (very few left!), started getting stuff out and then realised we hadn’t drained the water or filled up again! I think we are slow learners …our German neighbours found it highly amusing. 😂
