Foggy, damp, cold morning – for some daft reason we went back to Neuschwanstein to have a better look around. Of course, we couldn’t see it at all.855150FA-7BA4-49C6-B802-98CB403EAFDB Went to church instead! The Wieskirche, just off the Romantisch Strasse was completely gobsmacking inside. Sort of beautiful with its pastel colours, but totally over the top. The ceiling was almost like a cartoon with the gates of heaven on it. I keep expecting to get the thunderbolt in one of these churches but it doesn’t happen! All this was built up because a woman found an abandoned figure of Christ and spotted tears coming from its eyes. Carried on driving up the Romantic Road but not much to see at this end. A de-tour bought us along a narrow path full of cows – farmer not impressed.1555A2A1-85D0-47DC-9089-E32A13F0913F Had lunch once we got to Landberg. Nice town with a big waterfall. Feeling cold we had to have Kaffee und kuchen to keep us going. Got on the motorway then, to Lake Konstance (or the Bodensee). In the drizzle we could just about make out the alps over the other side. Lindau’s Altstadt (old town) is on an island reached by a bridge. We had a walk across in the dark but it wasn’t very well lit up so I don’t feel that we really saw it at its best. Probably beautiful on a sunny day.

The Wieskirche, Landsberg, then Lindau (Bodensee)
