Walked in to Kabelvåg this morning. Billed as a picturesque little town around a harbour; this it was, but it was sooo quiet and it couldn’t really be described as a town. Everywhere feels so safe here. There are bikes left outside houses, stuff left outside closed shops – nothing like England. Last night a girl parked next to us and slept in her car with her dog! Garages are left open and I doubt they lock their doors – there appears to be zero crime.
Drove on to Henningsvær…the ‘Venice of the Lofoten Islands’. It is all islands and bridges and very busy by Norwegian standards as there’s a music festival on. We had wondered about all the tents on the hillside as we drove in.
The town is full of teenagers and twenty somethings all stocking up on alcohol…ie one can!
We walked across all the islands; the last one had a football pitch on it! The weather is still sunny but now with an arctic breeze so the coats are back on.
After dinner, we walked up to the festival. A sort of boy band were playing – we could see it all without going in…think we’d be 30 years over the age limit anyway. To be honest, they could’ve done with Amulet @amuletband playing to liven it up a bit. All the girls look like the blond one out of Abba and the standard dress code is Decathlon meets Norwegian jumper.
Apart from the festival, the rest of town is remarkably quiet. We have had the foresight to move the motorhome away from the bottle bank though. Chink chink 🍾😬. I must stop Guy from drinking.
