A little trip to Carrefour to start the day. Everything seems very cheap – especially after Norway! Two green peppers for about 30p 👍
Off then in search of a monastery at San Juan de la Peña via a very long windy scenic route selected by the sat nav thing 🙄- there was a much easier way if only we had double checked.
The old monastery was built under a huge rock and had some good twelfth century cloisters on the first floor. Further up the road was a new monastery which we didn’t bother with. The road between the two though, had spectacular views with circling raptors in the sky. Eagles and even vultures! Unfortunately, the camera is great at landscapes but doesn’t pick up that kind of detail…obviously, the photographer will probably need another lens for his birthday 🙄
Further down the road was a lovely, if deserted old village called Santa Cruz de los Séros. We had a wander round until it started to rain.
Drove on for about 45 minutes to see the spectacular Los Mallos at Riglos. Couldn’t believe it when we first saw them come into view – really incredible rock formations. We’re parked for the night looking straight at them but sadly it’s bucketing down with rain.
