Exmoor

Done some long and winding roads today with a few hair raising moments. Headed for Bedruthan Steps but had to park in a lay-by as the proper car park was closed. Very windy on the coastal path with spectacular views over the rocks.

On to Padstow then, which was lovely and so much warmer. Crowds of people to say it’s a weekday – must be jam packed come July. More fish n chips 🙄…can’t believe we’ve done it again! Guy didn’t think the St Ives ones were quite up to scratch so had to try again.

Back in the van, followed the laborious A39 up to Lynton and Lynmouth – well ‘The Valley of Rocks’ to be precise. We thought we had a parking place here but the strength of the wind whipping up the valley was diabolical. I couldn’t even hold the cab door open to get out! After exiting through the side door we walked around the cliff path to Lynton. An amazing walk but so, so, cold for May.

Assuming that sleep would be impossible we drove further up and now somewhere at the top of Exmoor in a fab car park with beautiful views. I think (hope) we’re pretty sheltered by a nearby rock so fingers crossed for a quiet night!
