Tuesday 27th July

A panic about getting water this morning. All the campsites are full and when we asked at a Caravan Club site if we could pay to fill up, we were politely informed that the caravan club doesn’t encourage ‘wild camping’. Fortunately, we found a friendly garage that let us use their tap after filling up with diesel.

We set off for Bigbury Big Mistake! The roads are only wide enough for a horse and cart and we quickly made lots of enemies just by being on the road 😬 Still not sure how we managed to make it through the narrow gaps.
Parked in a field for a fiver, then went off across the vast beach to explore Burgh Island. A tidal island with good views out to sea, a really old pub called the Pilchard Inn and a sea tractor to transport you back if the tide comes in.

Took a longer route back from Bigbury, mainly so that we could keep to the A roads. Tried to park in Teignmouth but ‘no motorhomes’ signs everywhere ☹️Now we’ve ended up back at the Coombe Cellars car park again.

Hiya. Just catching up. Still not getting notifications, although Niall does. We ventured down to Dorset same weekend as you. First weekend of the school holidays. Thought it would be manic, but not as bad as we expected. Had trouble booking reasonable sites in advance, but they were half empty when we got there. We’re off to Lincoln in August for a gig, and don’t know whether to leave it to chance. How are you finding your sites in this country? Still using Park4nite?
Hi Claire, We just missed you by the sound of things. All been a bit manic with weddings etc. Been home for a few days and now in Derby ready for our grill hopefully being fixed tomorrow morning. Given up hope of going abroad this year – seems things are getting worse in France and Spain and we’d be worried about them suddenly turning ‘red’ then having to pay for ten days quarantine in a hotel. Off to Wales then probably Scotland for as long as we can afford. Depends how busy everywhere is too.Yes, still using Park4nite. Not as easy in the UK but we’ll see how we get on. Hope you’re both ok – sure you’ll find somewhere in Lincoln ….as long as it’s not on the coast! 😀X
