Staithes

Really was! Parked up on the seafront and it felt like we were in the middle of a hurricane all night. Not much sleep to be had. There was quite a bit of debris on the roads this morning and still quite windy and cold when we made our first stop.

Just wanted a quick walk before we set off on the journey home so thought we’d check out Staithes rather than Whitby. It was quite a quaint old village with a big harbour bordered by cliffs. Some steep cobbled streets and little old tea shops added to its charm. Looked like a lot of the cottages are now holiday lets but still had a bustling atmosphere even though it’s October.

It was an interesting route out, chosen by the phone maps thingy 🙄 Narrowly avoided some very steep roads and the ones we did go on tested the motorhome’s horse power to its limit.

Once back on the A1, the sun came out and I was the warmest I’ve been for two months! 😂

Quite a speedy unpack – we’ve had lots of practice now. Hoovered up all the spiders (hopefully) then sat down to chilli from the freezer.

Enjoyable trip – apart from the persistent Welsh rain. Scotland was a real eye opener – especially the north west. Really beautiful in a Norway kind of way. Hardly any shops, pubs or cafes but amazing scenery. Thank you to everyone that has kept in touch. Hope to get over/under the channel for our next trip. Best pics below…
