Well, when I say Lindisfarne, it was the most flying visit ever!
We woke up to really wild weather; really blustery wind and heavy rain. Made our way down the coast towards the Holy Island as the rain got worse instead of better. Checked the tide times for the causeway and there was only one more hour of safe crossing so we decided to do a quick dash. Once we hit the causeway, it became apparent that it was flooding already – eek! 😱The puddles were joining up with the sea. Of course, there’s nowhere to turn around, so once we reached the car park we did a quick spin round and came back – faster than we went !😂 Let’s just say, a rudder and some sails might have been useful.
Drove on through Seahouses down to Craster with the idea of getting some kipper pate from the Smokehouse for lunch. Trouble was, we passed the Jolly Fisherman enroute and they had a table 🙄The place was just as rammed as when we first discovered it six years ago and the food is fab.
As the rain had stopped for a while we had a walk towards the amazing Dunstanburgh Castle. An executive decision was made to turn back when the skies turned black again and we beat a hasty retreat to the van.

Since then the rain and wind has got progressively worse! We’re now at Saltburn-by-the-Sea but it actually feels like we’re on the sea. Being battered by 29mph winds and a deluge of heavy rain. Won’t be stepping out for a pint !😂
