I think we’ve just about done a full circuit of the Picos mountains now. We’ve come to the other end of the Cares Gorge which is less than 20 km from where we were yesterday, but more towards 100km when you go by road!

It was another spectacular drive up to Cangas de Onís, the road winding through yet another deep gorge called Desfiladero de los Beyos. We had lunch and a little walk (with stiff legs 😬) to see the old hump-backed bridge in Cangas and then carried on around to Poncebos. There’s a mirador here and we were hoping to be able to see the famous Naranjo de Bulnes – an orange tinted rock.

Unfortunately, the weather has changed – nothing like the storm in Britain thankfully, but cloud and a bit of rain. We parked up and walked up the super steep zigzag road to the viewpoint anyway. It was only just over a mile, but so steep my legs turned to jelly and I over-heated in all my warm clothes. 🙄No visible Naranjos at the top either…after all that effort!

My legs have just packed up completely now …I think we might get the telly out! 😂
