Set off on another jaunt today just as the temperature was reaching its peak! The Sentiero del Ponale leaves the main road from the other side of Riva del Garda. Its a steep uphill track used by both hikers and mountain bikers – not always with a good outcome!
It was quite busy as we set off, with bikes coming flying down the gravel track at warp speed. The problem was that most of them didn’t seem to be in control – they’d had batteries to help them get up there but left their common sense at the top. One woman hit Guy’s arm with her handle bar – he shouted to her, she hesitated, then carried on. I think his ‘angry eyes’ scared her to death. The bruise came up immediately – it must’ve been a right thwack. It’s given him even more reason to dislike mountain bikes, so why we have to keep one in the garage God only knows!? 🤣
Some good views and a few tunnels later we arrived at the Belvedere. We were so hot – had to have an ice cream before the march back downhill. By the time we got back, seven and a half miles later, I was hobbling along at snail pace. 
Late lunch in hot van, then Guy decided “we haven’t got time for coffee”- in retaliation, I exhibited strong caffeine withdrawal symptoms.
We had coffee.
Drove round the eastern side of the lake towards Malcesine. Ended up staying in Campagnola which cheered Guy up as I think it reminded him of ‘proper bikes’!
Had a walk down to the lake (again) ..very beautiful from this side. Back at base we seem to have our own pomegranate tree – shame they’re not ripe.
Worn out just reading about your adventures.
Trying not to moan but my feet are so sore – I think I need new soles 😂
