After a very wild, windy and rainy night we drove a bit further into the national park for a walk along the Rio Borosa gorge.
We were quite surprised that the road here from Cazorla was immediately quite narrow, with hairpin bends climbing up really high. Because it was still raining we didn’t get much of a view of the valley below.
What an afternoon it’s been. We left at 12:15 and got back about 6:30. I’m very pleased we had a big lunch first! 😂
Have to say that despite getting completely soaked on the way back it was a very spectacular walk. We started off on wide gravel track alongside the beautiful blue-green river, then a couple of miles in, the cliffs on either side start to close in. Wooden bridges criss cross over the river, then it turns into catwalks secured to the side of the cliff face.
Five and a half miles later, we reached a sign saying ‘end of walk’. We were about to sit down and have a drink when a mad French man came past with his mountain bike. “Yes, it does go further”he told Guy, “there is a tunnel, then a lake, another tunnel and a waterfall”!
Looking at the scramble of a path upwards, I decided I’d had enough so sat down to wait while Guy carried on. Frenchman went to hide his bike then went running after Guy. “Don’t even think about stealing my bike” he called back to me. I must have a dishonest face.
After an hour and a bit, looking at the river and chatting to a goat, a very hot and bothered Guy returned with tales of long, dark water filled tunnels and dodgy paths. Glad I stayed with goat!

On the way back, the proper rain came again and we got drenched.
11 miles for me, 14 for Guy. Pasta, pesto never looked so good!
