Well, I think these two upmarket seaside resorts may have found their way into my top five favourite places! Even on a dull grey day in February, I thought they were just lovely. The architecture on show is amazing – elegant villas and timbered houses line the beautifully clean streets. Marinas, a casino, fish market, wide sandy beaches backed by the ‘planches’ – a 1920’s boardwalk, all add to its charm. Surprisingly, I’d say about 75% of the shops and restaurants were open with full on displays, even though there were only a few locals meandering around.

I forgot to mention, last night when we arrived, Google maps took us to the wrong parking location. We had our first mad moment as we drove through an open electric gate towards the racecourse. There was plenty of parking and I thought I could see motorhomes at the end. They turned out to be horse boxes – posh ones at that. Realising it was definitely the wrong place, we hot-tailed it back to the gate which was slowly closing. Thankfully, the sensor halted it as we got close up and we squeezed back through, hearts in mouths, expecting the back end to be severed off at any moment. 😬🙄Close!

Back to today. We’ve driven to Mont St-Michel this afternoon. Nearly dark on arrival so we’ll walk up tomorrow; although the intrepid photographer has been out for a few evening shots. We came here about 26 years ago so it’ll be interesting to see if it’s changed much.
