Hello, it’s us again! Back with some more rambles whilst we attempt to reach Morocco.
Easy run down the A1 yesterday and straight on to an earlier train. The Chunnel is always so efficient. French passport control did a double take on our brand new passports. We paid for extra pages as our old ones were nearly full of stamps forgetting that they plan to do away with stamps soon and it’ll just be fingerprints and eyeballs.
Decided to get out of Calais and ended up in secure motorhome parking on a headland, just the other side of Boulogne.
We woke up to glorious sunshine 🌞..think it’s been a long time coming for everyone this year! Made the most of it by having a long walk on the undulating coastal path, marvelling at the amount of concrete gun emplacements still there. By the time we got back, it actually felt warm!

Avoiding tolls, there were some tedious roads through villages on the way to Rouen, but we eventually got on a long, straight D road and then some free motorway.
Parked at the Port de Plaisance along with about twenty French motorhomes, then a 45 minute walk brought us in to Rouen’s historic old town.

So much nicer than our last visit here, when it was absolutely freezing. It’s such a lovely place with its many gothic churches and medieval old timbered buildings, all leaning at precarious angles. The cathedral is stunning too – the tallest in France apparently.

Long walk back along the buzzing waterfront and only just starting to get dark at 7pm!

  1. How exciting. Off on your travels again. We’ve not tried out our new van yet, but will be leaving it in France for the summer to use it over there. Looking forward to your posts. Have fun!

    1. Thanks Claire. That’s a good idea with your motorhome – you can just nip off for a few days when you’re in France. Give you a break from all the renovating. X
