There was nothing much to report on Saturday as we spent the day getting ourselves to Calais. Stopped off in Lille to pick up some goodies from Auchan but couldn’t get into the car park for love nor money. Height barriers everywhere. Seems to be happening more and more. Their loss. Super U got our money instead.
Our usual motorhome parking in Calais has been taken over by the ‘Camping Car Park’ group. Fortunately, we have one of their cards which you have to load up with money to make the barrier miraculously open. We were a bit worried though as you can now book in advance (if you pay extra). Over a hundred spaces and it was nearly full! Quite relieved to get in as Calais doesn’t seem to be the safest place at the moment.
Did a bit of cleaning, then tried to get to sleep early ready for 6:30 wake up. Didn’t work!
Straight on to the train in the morning, didn’t even have chance to make coffee before we had to switch the gas off. 😭
Up to London with a two junction de-tour around the M25 when we found we couldn’t get off as the exit was blocked. Parked at Lee Valley campsite then ran to miss the train into the city. Took us two hours to get across to Callum’s house in Eltham.
Was brilliant to see the boys and girls and we had a fabulous lunch cooked for us. Both falling asleep on the way back!
Today the tiredness is even worse. We’ve limped home and unpacked but I think the 9300 miles has finally caught up with us.
Thanks as always for reading and keeping in touch. Back next year!
PS Here’s Guy’s top twenty pics.
