Spent the morning meandering along the boardwalks waiting for the tide to go out. Guy was hoping for another chance to photograph the spectacular rock formations here at Playa de Las Catedrales but the sea wasn’t really doing what it was meant to. The waves were bonkers and crashing as loud as gun shots at times. Lovely warm, sunny day though, so we had lunch to give it chance to calm down a bit.

As the tide started to recede, people were venturing down to the beach, only to get caught out by freak waves. Guy took his boots off, and with what he thought was perfect timing, ventured around one of the bigger rocks. Several minutes later he reappeared with his trousers soaked but fortunately, he managed to keep the camera dry!

Carried on further west this afternoon towards A Coruña. The motorways are really well maintained and free. It’s all so incredibly green too around here – apparently similar to Ireland except they have sidre instead of Guinness.

We’ve stopped at the ancient town of Betanzos for the night. It had a really good write up in our Rough Guide, but having been published in 2004 we’re beginning to realise it’s a little bit out of date! 😂

The town has a lovely square in the centre with tall, white windowed houses reflecting the sun but aside from that, the outskirts are a bit grubby and graffitied. We went looking for a restored sculpture park but when we eventually found it, it was closed off and definitely looked like it had seen better days. Got good motorhome parking with services though, although the local dogs are tuning up for a barking competition now. 🙄🐕
