So many names for these places! Can’t believe how crazy it was last night. It seems these sleepy little seaside towns turn into something entirely different come 11pm – mainly a motorbike race track! 🙄

We managed to get up in time to catch the boat to the island of Hydra for the day. There was a minor panic when both cash machines in town seemed to be devoid of money, but after saying it was ‘cash only’ yesterday, the boat company were suddenly able to produce a card machine. 😂
Probably took about 35 minutes to get to the island. It is beautiful, although I think there’s really only the one main town set around the harbour. The fact that it’s traffic free makes it all the more appealing but hard work for the poor donkeys and horses. Plenty of water traffic though – yachts, catamarans, ferries, all constantly filled the harbour disgorging scores of people at a time. It was super busy right up until late afternoon.
There were some nice little shops but we quickly found out they were trying to cater to the rich and famous yacht owners, when we asked the price of a pair of swim shorts for Guy. Reduced to €50 …seemed a bit steep. In the next shop, they were over €100 rising to the ridiculous €170 by the end of the harbour. He can make do. 😬
Had to keep ducking and diving into cafes to keep out of the heat, but we did walk a little way around the headland and Guy had a swim off the rocks. I chickened out when I saw a girl really struggle to get out after she got hit by the wake of a passing boat.

We got back onto a full boat at 5:30 and managed to sit outside. The breeze was lovely.

Back at the van, we watched in awe as a huge red moon came up from the sea. Guy scrambled for the camera and tripod and just got it set up properly when the little girl with the family next to us came and posed right in front of the camera…and the moon! 🙄😂We didn’t know how to explain in Albanian that the camera was set up for thousands of miles in the distance.

PS See photo of restaurant dog on a diet!

We Sat watching the moon. rise but it was bright yellow with a halo. Lots of pollution in. Greece?
None in Greece but loads in Athens, we lay in bed about 5 in the morning and all you could taste was a mix of diesel fumes, brake dust A bit like living in an underground😄😄😄
