We thought the sun beds stacked up on the beach immediately outside our van were put away for winter, but at bang on 7am this morning they were being put back out in regimented rows. Saturday – of course; it might be the end of the holiday season but still plenty of local custom at weekends. Guy went to ask the man if he wanted us to move, but he said we were fine parked where we were – back to sleep for another hour then 😴

It was really hot and the beach was filling up by the time we set off for Corinth.

We aimed for the footbridge in the middle of the canal and arrived just in time to see a couple of smaller boats go through. Can’t believe they get some of the cruise ships through here – it’s so narrow and gob-smackingly deep. We worked out that about 34 vessels per day pass through here and it’s such an amazing sight. A lot of people were stood at the side of the canal rather than on the bridge and we suddenly realised they were watching bungee jumpers underneath. Looks like a flipping death wish to me!

Back in the van, we got the air con on whilst we decided which route to take. The Peloponnese is the next bit to do, but which way round to do it? Decision made – down the east coast. Brilliant scenery all the way. Had a walk in the town of Galatas and it would’ve been great to get a boat across to the island of Poros which looked beautiful, but we had to find services before we could settle for the night.

Poros from Galatas

Now in another port town further south, called Ermione, toying with idea of visiting Hydra tomorrow.
