Zamora

Quiet night and beautiful reflections on the river this morning.

We set off south east (ish) on a very tortuous (my new word 😉)route towards Bragança in Portugal. Nice scenery apart from an awful couple of miles where there’d been a recent forest fire.

I think the journey was worth it as the white washed mediaeval village was lovely and we had a good walk around the castle walls.

Back out of Portugal, by mid afternoon we were on the main road to Zamora, watching three massive lorries jostle for position on the motorway. Then, one cut in front of us, as he’d decided to overtake but didn’t have the time to do it, causing just a few choice words from our resident careful driver!

Zamora is a much bigger city but still walled with an interesting old town. The river Duero runs alongside with an old stone bridge to add to its charm.

We called in the tourist office to get a map as it was a confusing place. Guy asked in Spanish and was very pleased with himself when the map was produced. I didn’t do so well later when we sat down for a drink & I thought I’d have a glass of sherry seeing as we are in Spain. I got myself a nice cup of camomile tea!! 😂😂😂 Manzanilla, apparently, will get you sherry down south, but up here it’s camomile. I drank it anyway..had the same effect. 😴
