Inverness

Straight to Inverness this morning. First stop, Go Outdoors for some more walking socks for Guy, who only has one pair and washes his socks by night like a shepherd. 😉

Had a walk around the city centre…quite small with not much to see really – unless we missed something.

Drove alongside Loch Ness for a while. No sign of Nessy. We reached Urquart Castle but decided not to pay the £12 each entry fee – you can do too many castles!

Retraced our route as there was only one road back to Inverness, then south on a big empty main road to Aviemore. So strange to be travelling above 40 mph! We were surprised by Aviemore – think we were both expecting a Swiss or Italian style ski resort -I’ve no idea why! Not much there at all really.

Carried on to Loch an Eilein (‘Come on Eileen’ if you’re wondering 😂)which was recommended to us by a lovely group of locals that we met on our walk yesterday. Managed to summon up the energy to walk the perimeter through some lovely woodland which gave us a bit of protection from the wild wind.

Guy is hoping for a cloudless night so he can photograph the stars but there is the pitter patter of rain on the roof already…or is it snow?

Inverness and Loch an Eilein (“oh, I swear what he means”🎼)
