Yesterday was a full on driving day as the weather was awful- non stop rain and strong winds.
We decided to avoid the north coast due to all the weather warnings there, but by the time we reached Burgos, I think we were getting the same treatment anyway.
Although fresh air and a walk was much needed, neither of us could face the 4km walk into town as we would have been drenched!
This morning, we actually woke up to blue skies and sunshine – woohoo! Still extremely windy though as we drove west towards León. Guy said that the wind was ‘bullying’ him all the way. Considered driving in to the city of León to see the cathedral, but it was quite a way off our route, so headed for Benavente instead, which turned out to be a bit of a dump.
Did the Lidl shop and then had a walk up into the town – not much to see, other than a couple of churches and an old theatre.

Back at the van, although we were on a free, brand new motorhome site, we decided to move on about 4pm as we were surrounded by rubbish blowing everywhere. Most unusual for Spain.
We are now just above the Portuguese border, on a tiny site with our own private chapel and a view of the snow covered mountains to the north.
Our aim now, is to get to Porto for Saturday when sunshine is forecast!
