Really, really windy in the night – woke up several times thinking I was on a ship in the high seas. The motorhome really rocks from side to side on its suspension …quite scary. As we got to the main bridge which crosses the river for Split we realised it was shut – it actually looked broken so we wondered if it had been damaged by the high winds. Queued to get back through Trogir (won’t be stopping to eat!) then drove down the coastal road to Kastel Gomilica. Parked at a small port/marina that was chock full of yachts and walked along by the sea to a tiny village with a watchtower built by some nuns in the 15th century. Beautiful little village that looked like it was in the process of being revamped – bet someone’s seen a money spinning opportunity there. Carried on in to Split, which very surprisingly, looked like New York on the way in. I have never seen so many high rise blocks. The old centre sounds really nice but we couldn’t park for love nor money; it was crazy! Gave up. We’ll try again on the way back up.FCE7CFC3-8F70-4C98-91ED-7B236D3D3C87 Drove on to Omis and parked just outside for lunch. The person that drank the most wine last night then had a micro sleep. Rufus was very troubled by the gusting wind especially when the door slammed shut. We decided we couldn’t leave him, so took the motorhome back into the town and paid to park in a more sheltered spot. Once a pirate stronghold, Omis has two fortresses, the lower of which, Mirabela, we walked up to. Well, I say walked! Steep steps culminating in a ladder at the top – er …it’s a ‘no’ from me! The ex-fireman scrambled up and was rewarded with stunning views. I really liked this town, but nowhere to stay. Drove off south down the coastal road but everywhere we tried to pull in had ‘no motorhomes’ signs ☹️. It was really dark and dangerously windy when we finally found this motorhome site – we don’t care how much it costs, just need to be safe. Kastel Gomilica, Not Split and Omis

  1. Probably not helpful, as you’ve just left Trogir & it’s windy, but we caught a ferry from Trogir into Split, and they took the dog. We stayed at Camping Rosac (ACSI) and walked into the town. On the way back maybe?

    1. Thanks – we considered that campsite but decided Rufus wouldn’t manage the walk in and it would probably be too long to leave him. Hoping it’s a bit quieter on the way back up and we might be able to get into one of the car parks. On Hvar now. We’ve come down a track to a campsite with no one here. Think the road was our most hair raising yet! Guy is drinking copious quantities of red wine to get over it! Hope you’re both ok 😄
