We ventured back into the square last night just as it was getting dark. The theme had turned towards street food and music. Probably about forty different food stalls, all numbered and all with their own professional ‘pull you in’ people. We kept telling them we’d eaten already but that wasn’t good enough. ‘You are skinny man’ they told Guy, ‘you need to eat again’ 🤣

There were small groups of ‘musicians’ who again, pulled people in to take part, then of course you pay for the privilege.
It was quite a good thing that people were virtually ignoring the snake and monkey men – hopefully it’ll die out soon.
Today, we had tickets for the Jardin Majorelle at 2pm, which is over in the Ville Nouvelle, about a forty minute walk. Crossing the main roads is a flipping terrifying event – even on the zebra crossings. Just so many motorbikes who ignore the lights. Even if you get a green man signal to cross, it only gives you enough time to get half way. The locals just walk across four lanes and force the traffic to stop or go around them. I haven’t got the nerve for that caper. The only respite today was walking through the beautiful Moulay Abdeslam Cyber Park.
As we were early for our time slot, we had lunch in a local cafe and watched the world go by. A bare chested man appeared and helped himself to some left over mint tea and bread then carried on his way. There’s always something happening .

The Jardin Majorelle is just amazing – so beautiful, they’d even give Monet’s a run for its money.

Created by the French painter, Jacques Majorelle, these botanical gardens were later owned by the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent who had his ashes scattered here. There’s also a small memorial.
It’s all an absolute riot of colour. The art deco buildings are painted cobalt blue with orange and yellow pots strategically placed around the exotic trees and plants. There are huge palms, bamboo and cacti around pools with lily pads, very vocal frogs, fish and tortoise.

Didn’t really want to leave as it was so lovely and cool. Stuck my head in the shop on the way out …€29 for a little tin of mint from the garden.
I think not!
It’s back to the souk for us! 🤣
