It was quite cloudy and cool this morning when we set off on the road north. We didn’t get very far ..about 10km before we turned off to see the rock formations at Legzira.
We weren’t expecting much, but again, Morocco threw in another surprise. What a beautiful place – reminded me so much of Cornwall. Miles of clean wide sandy beaches surrounded by beautiful red coloured rocks and punctuated with archways where the sea has done a bit of a sculpture. We walked a couple of miles in the breeze and by the time we got back the sun was out.
Funny to see a little holiday village near where we parked …it looked completely empty, but maybe gets some visitors in the summertime.

Further up the coast we stopped at Aglou beach for lunch. Although there was some kind of aqua-park there, this place also looked deserted and still in the process of untidy mass villa building. I was just saying that it was strange that in all the years since Agadir became a full on resort, it didn’t look like it had expanded south much – now eating my words. I hope they manage to make it work or there’s going to be an awful lot of empty concrete around.
Headed for the Oued Massa next, a kind of wetland area that’s meant to be full of birds and other wildlife, but today there was nothing as the river seemed to be virtually dried up. We spent quite a while on the dusty tracks looking for signs of life, but got back on the main road once we’d hit a few areas of ‘ensablement’ – where the road disappears under sand!

On to Agadir, but suddenly it was quite late in the day. Couldn’t find any decent overnight parking other than the airport. The roads were getting crazy with stuff happening everywhere, so once we hit the ring road, we turned off and parked at the airport for about £3 overnight – you can’t even drop someone off at East Mids for that!

Happy Birthday to the big bro who is now getting proper old!
