It was quite entertaining at first last night. We watched a man turn up in his car, have a quick check around for police, pop on a high vis armband, get out a plastic chair then start collecting money for what is a free car park. Of course he helps to guide you in to your place for his dirham. He didn’t ask us as we were already there and I think he knew we’d watched him set up. 🤣
What a night it turned out to be! Probably our worst ever. The lovely clean parking spot by the river had all good reviews for a quiet night barring a bit of traffic noise – we’re used to that. The reality was, that every man and his dog came down to sit and talk, sing, shout, cough disgustingly in an attempt to impress each other, rev engines and beep horns. There was a rotating group of people arriving and leaving up to about 6am and they all behaved as if it was the middle of the day. Nocturnal critters 😡!
Didn’t know what to do today as we were like a pair of zombies again. Decided to head to Meknes as it was the next destination on our map. Guy said he was ok to drive as it’s motorway virtually all the way.

The whole city is apparently a UNESCO site and is billed as a relaxed and prosperous place. I think we must have visited the rough end this afternoon.
There’s a square similar to the one in Marrakesh with not much in it other than captive snakes, a monkey and an emu! Trying not to look, we entered the covered souks and came face to face with the blood and gore of butcher street. 😬

Once we found our way out, we were in a fully functioning shopping area where all the roads had been dug up but no-one seemed to notice. Bomb site.

It was very hot, so we sat in a cafe and ordered two mojitos – not the alcoholic type but rather the lime, mint, lemonade and ice version. Usually quite refreshing. What arrived were two glasses of what looked like day-glo ‘mild green fairy liquid’.🤢🤢🤢
Had to leave it as I think we would have both been ill or turned into green goblins.
